Centro de Investigación y Formación San Ignacio del Huinay

is a multidisciplinary station, dedicated to the generation of scientific knowledge, training of professionals and scientific popularization in the broadest senses. Research and training objectives are mainly encompassed by the two central and closely linked projects POETA research program and the Huinay Seasonal Schools. The main goal is to understand the effects of long term variability and climate change on the dynamics and interactions between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems of Chilean Patagonia.

 
 
 

POETA (Programa de Observación de los Ecosistemas Terrestre y Acuáticos), involves the monitoring of essential climate variables. While the Huinay Seasonal Schools are a practical and theoretical training program, targeted at scientific, technological and cultural education, and aiming to be a "A source of inspiration for science, art and culture".
